Ombre nails (and lips)

Monday 30 July 2012

Hey guys, apologies for the lack of FFFs lately, I've been super busy but shall hopefully be posting a look this Friday so keep an eye out for that!

I thought I'd do a quick post of the ombre nails I tried last night and matching lips I played around with today. The pictures are taken from my Instagram (@frootibeauty - follow me!), so apologies for the quality.

Ombre Nails
Products used:
Barry M - Bright Red (262) and Shocking Pink (272)
Nails Inc InStyle polish - Power Pink
Ombre Lips
As for the ombre lips, I used:
Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Colors (SSLCs) in Lovechild, Crush and F-Bomb:
I also did a small collage of the lips and nails together:
Do follow me if you're on Instagram as I post there more frequently than I do here (it's just that little bit more easier!)

Hope you liked this look as much as I did creating it and let me know if you have any requests.

FFF: Purple-Green makeup look

Friday 13 July 2012

This weeks FFF includes one of my favourite colours - purple! I used a green at the bottom for a mix that is sometimes seen in Asian clothing, so I hope you enjoy this look!

Products used:
Eyes:
> UDPP
> NYX JEP in Milk
> Sedona Lace 120 palette (2nd edition) - all eyeshadows
> MAC fluidline in Blacktrack
> UD 24/7 eye pencil in Covet
> UD Heavy Metal glitter liner in Stagedive
> Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet mascara
> Khuraira ACC in Light
> MAC Studio Finish concealer - NC35
Face:
> YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation - BD50
> UD Razorsharp powder
> UD Baked Bronzer in Toasted
Lips:
> MAC lipstick in Quick Sizzle
> UD lipliner in Naked
> UD Stardust lipgloss in Andromeda

After I primed the eye with UDPP  & NYX JEP in Milk, I applied a matte lilac-purple (from the Sedona Lace palette) to the whole eyelid, followed by a more reddish purple (with slight shimmer) in the crease. A matte light pink shade was added to the brow bone and blended down into the reddish-purple in the crease.
I added a bit of a green shadow with a liner brush to the bottom lashline followed by UD Covet eye liner and Stagedive glitter liner on top.
For the topliner I used MAC fluidline in Blacktrack and also on the lower waterline.
Both Khuraira and MAC concealers were applied under the eyes and Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet mascara to the lashes.

Trying to capture the glitter from this angle!
For the rest of the face I used a sample of the new YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat in BD50 and set it with UD Razorsharp powder.
I then used UD Baked Bronzer in Toasted on the cheeks and MAC Quick Sizzle (matte fuschia) first on the lips:
I then used a more nude colour on the lips (UD Naked lipliner) for those afraid of bright colours!:
And finally added a bit of gloss (UD Stardust lipgloss in Andromeda) for a nude shine:
And there you have it! If you have any requests for makeup looks please feel free to comment below, email, tweet or write on my facebook page!

Which combination do you like best? Would you wear this look?

Nice Nails Baby

Thursday 12 July 2012

I recently attended an event held by Nice Nails Baby, a nail and beauty salon in Kings Cross specialising in nail treatments.

I attended the event with the lovely Numera of Hommes De Femmes and as we waited to get our nails done we sipped on much needed refreshing mocktails and yummy cupcakes.
I chose a colour to match my clothes (Mermaid's Tears by OPI) whilst Numera got OPI Hot & Spicy and Essie Coral Reef on her ring fingers; the 3D art being offered was something different and right up my alley- they had bows! I definitely have a thing for bows, be it on my shoes or on my head, I love them and the one I chose was blingy so I was ecstatic:
OPI Mermaid's Tears and my bow bling
Numera got a bow on one ring finger and mini licorice allsorts on the other - über cute!

We chatted with the founder of Nice Nails Baby Michelle who was lovely and friendly; I could see why she had customers returning with her bubbly personality and would definitely love to have my nails done by the NNB nail technicians.

If you'd like a manicure with a twist I'd definitely recommend NNB who are based in Victoria and Kings Cross!

Batiste hair shampoo quick review

Tuesday 10 July 2012

It's not often I do hair posts (as I wear a scarf) but recently I had a fringe cut and I've noticed that my hair has become oilier a lot faster!
Before the fringe I'd had my hair somewhat ombre'd and the bleach made the ends of my hair quite dry so to avoid drying my hair too much I've been using Batiste dry shampoo to freshen up the roots without affecting the ends.

I've tried the normal Batiste sprays before and found that they can leave a white-ish tinge to my hair, even when rubbed in and brushed.. so I thought I'd try the Hint of Colour (dark and deep brown) and Sexy & Glam Gold Shimmer.
The Gold Shimmer smelled pleasant enough and as with all Batiste sprays I shaked and sprayed from around 30cm away, massaged in and comb/ brushed out. The gold shimmer dispersed nicely however I found it got everywhere; clothes, hands and body.. a plus point if you'd rather look like a Christmas tree or are going to a party!
Here's the spray swatched:
Freshly sprayed
After a couple seconds
Rubbed across the hand
As you can see, when freshly sprayed you see all the glitter then a couple seconds later you see the shampoo-powder ingredient. After massaging/rubbing in the glitter is dispersed as is the shampoo ingredient.

The Hint of Colour is very similar (minus glitter of course!) but with a slight tint. I sprayed it quite near to the skin as it wouldn't show up further away and as you can see, the same shampoo-powder ingredient shows up:
Once massaged in, the white shampoo-powder no longer shows and hair is pleasantly freshened with no oiliness visible.

I prefer the Hint of Colour better than the Gold shimmer, simply because it's less obvious for everyday wear (with no glitter all over the face and clothes!)

Have you tried any Batiste products before? Which would you recommend?

Frooti shoots

Monday 9 July 2012

I didn't get time to do a makeup look this week as I've been so busy with bookings and events so apologies for that!
However, the last photoshoot I did before I went on holiday consisted of an Asian/Arabian theme and I've chosen my favourites out of a fair few, so here they are:

Asian purple look:

Arabic blue look:
I also did a "Frooti" themed shoot too which is a bit different as I wanted to do an editorial style theme with high colour; I haven't yet received all the pictures for yet but here are two teasers:
Which shoot do you like best? Hope you feel as inspired as I did when I shot these!

Monday Makeover

Monday 2 July 2012

Apologies for the lack of FFF on Friday, I've been so busy of late with bookings and events!

This weekend I was busy with a bridal trial and bridesmaids' makeup, so I thought I'd share some of the makeup looks in this post to inspire you for any similar coloured outfits you may have!

First up, a black and silver smokey look:
Next was a turquoise/teal and purple look to match the colours of the outfit:
The third bridesmaid's outfit was the very popular gold-purple-green/turquoise colours:
And last but not least, a burgundy-purple look to match the outfit again:
My cousin was there to do the hair and this was my most favourite hairstyle from the day:
You can see more of our work on our Facebook page Safrah Beauty or on my Facebook page Frootibeauty.

Which look do you prefer? Will you be trying any of these to match some outfits? I'd love to see!
