Hi guys!
So I managed to get some spare time this week to do a makeup look which is no easy feat with a newborn by the way!
I was uber excited to use the Urban Decay Electric Palette that I was sent (releasing on April 1st 2014), so I got straight to it, trying to use as many of the colours in this one look..
Unfortunately I won't be able to describe what I put where for the time being as I'm short for time with posts, however once baby settles I'll be able to describe more (and hopefully get some more YouTube tutorials done!)

Now that palette name is a mouthful in itself!
This weeks Sunday Swatches post is a requested one after I put up a picture and video of the palette on my Instagram.
Back in December 2011, I bought another colourful holiday palette by Kiko (blog post here) and was impressed with the quality back then and not much has changed since then, but in fact my opinion of Kiko is higher now. Scroll further for this year's Holiday eyeshadow palette from Kiko and swatches.
Packaging: These gorgeous baked shadows are encased in their square sturdy two-tone case which looks pinky-white in different lights and a holographic round circle design in the middle. Inside the lid is a full mirror which is handy.
Colour & Pigmentation: The shadows are much less powdery than the Light Impulse eyeshadow palette as the baked texture means they have more intense pigmentation. They can be used wet or dry, however I used them dry to swatch them above and they were still pretty pigmented (some were swiped twice).
Some shades are more pigmented than others; generally matte shadows are less pigmented usually but these are all fairly decent, including the matte shades.
Texture: The texture isn't as powdery as the Light Impulse palette but still not as soft/buttery as Urban Decay shadows of course.. Some shades were more silky/smooth than others within the palette.
Longevity: Baked products generally last longer when worn on the skin so I'd say these would last, particularly if worn with an eyeshadow primer. Baked products also hold together better in the packaging which means you use less product and it lasts longer!
Price: At £34.90 it works out as around £2.20 per eyeshadow which is a bargain in my books.
FrootiFactor: I'd give this palette a 4 out of 5 as I feel like it has a great mix of neutrals, brights and mattes and of course the value of the product is worth it considering how long the product would last in your makeup wardrobe!
Overall, I'd say its a great palette to get for yourself or as a present this Christmas as it has a good mix of shades and finishes.

Earlier this week I
was lucky to be invited to the new Illamasqua collection launch and as always I was
enthralled to meet the faces behind the brand and of course Alex Box and
David Horne.
The new collection, entitled "Paranormal" is inspired by a sense/feeling of something different and the collection boasts a range of textures and colours to explore this "paranormal" area. Illamasqua again challenges normality in the beauty world and asks "Why be normal when you can be paranormal?"
If
you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen some of the
preview pictures like the visual above which I absolutely love!
The launch was filled with darkness, smoke and blacklights hanging from the ceiling everywhere, the polishes were a-glow under the lighting and the rest of the products were scattered around the manicure area for us to view. The other side had a glowing bar area with glowing drinks and flowing smoke bowls.. all mystical and paranormal!
I chose to get the pink polish (Ouija) done with a feature/accented purple (Séance) nail:
The
polishes looked amazing under the black light - Seance glowed a pink
colour and Ouija glowed a sort of coral colour; I took a picture with
Nilmini from Illamasqua who had her nails painted with Omen (green) and
Seance:
The polishes are limited edition and available for £15 each. The Top Coat "Geist" glows a blue colour and is £13; it can be used on top of normal or UV polishes or alone.
I caught up with David in the manicure area and he explained that the Hydra Veil (£27.50) is not just a moisturiser or a primer; it's basically a cosmetic care layer of water for your skin to enhance makeup application and even out the surface of the skin. He showed me how the gel when mixed with the spoon, it evens itself out and doesn't stay hard; in the same way it helps smooth out the skin:
I then caught up with the amazing Alex Box about the whole collection; I asked if Illamasqua would be branching out into skincare after Hydra Veil but it doesn't seem to be the case and to be honest I prefer it when brands stick to cosmetics as it can become quite diluted and unfocussed; and Illamasqua sure is a creative cosmetics brand.
We talked about the Paranormal palette (£34) and how the textures are putty-like; Rose from Illamasqua's PR team wore Possession (cool-bright green) as a highlighter and it looked absolutely amazing; the rest of the colours are just as impressive!
The
two lipsticks from the collection (ESP and Posture, both swatched
above) to my delight are both shades of purple and can be used together
to create amazing ombre lips. The true shade can be seen above of both
colours with flash- ESP is a vivid violet colour and Posture is a cool
mauve/lilac. Both are £16.50 each:
The
newest Gleam (or highlighter) Illamasqua created for this Paranormal
collection is in the appropriately named "Supernatural" and is available for £18. It's an unusual warm bronze shade and would be perfect for warmer skin tones:
There's
also a new black eyeliner - Precision Gel eyeliner (£18) which is
waterproof too. Like all gel eyeliners, this one applies smoothly and is
a pure black colour. I didn't get a picture of it unfortunately but it
is pictured in the image below of the full collection:
All in all, I'd say my favourites from this collection are the Hydra Veil, the nail polishes and the palette; I love how bright it is and the texture is an amazing gel/putty like feel but dries to a powder/matte finish which is also waterproof - win! The polishes are also amazing as I've been wanting to shoot a UV/glow in the dark themed shoot for a while so it will definitely come in handy. As for the Hydra Veil, it would be perfect to wear underneath my Skinbase foundation, or around the eye area as I tend to get dry there and sometimes makeup doesn't sit right!

Hey guys!
I know it's been a while but I've finally had some time to sit down and do a makeup tutorial before I go on holiday on the 8th of December; and not only that I filmed it too *gasp*
I thought I'd try it out but in all honesty it seems sooo long to: get the stuff together in one place, get decent lighting, film it properly (and talk coherently), edit it, then save it, then upload it to YouTube... Hats off to you YouTube tutorial bloggers, I seriously don't know how you do it!
Anyway, I chose to do this look as the Urban Decay Vice Palette was recently released and a few people were asking me how I'd use the bright blue colour (Chaos). So I thought I'd do a blue smokey look with this colour and see how it goes.. hope you like!
Products used:
> Kiko Warm Tangerine Glow blush palette
> Elf cream liner in black (eyebrows)
Lips:
I used
UD Cream to Powder foundation in Supernova, then the Razorsharp powder and Toasted bronzer in the hollows of the cheeks; I then used a warm coral/tangerine colour on the cheeks and a highlighter from the Kiko Warm Tangerine glow palette. On the lips I used Sabaya lip pencil in 08 and MAC Watch Me Simmer lipstick:

I've also done a video tutorial on this makeup look (eek!!), it's my first video so there's a lot of umm-ing and ahh-ing and I'm totally not used to being and seeing myself on camera so I don't know if it's good enough! The lighting is awful coz it's just grey these days and there's barely any time to do tutorials in daylight hours; I did try to make it as short as possible too, hope you like it and find it easy to follow anyway!

After
priming the eye with UDPP & NYX JEP in Milk I applied Chaos to the eyelid, followed by Goddess in the outer corner/crease, blending upwards slightly and into the inner corner of the eye. Naked was
used just slightly above this, followed by Laced on the inner corner, but above Chaos. I used Provocateur
on the brow bone, blending down into Naked and also used on the inner corner of the eye.
UD
24/7 Perversion eye pencil was used to line the inner eye, whilst NYC liquid liner was used for the top liner. LSD was used on the lower lashline too, connecting with the
black liquid liner. To finish off the eye I used MAC Splashproof mascara and Daniel Sandler mascara for more dramatic lashes, then UD Heavy Metal eyeliner in Spandex underneath the liquid liner flick on the outer corner.
I filled in the brows with Elf cream liner in black (lightly!) and concealed under the eyes to finish:
And there you have it! This weeks FFF includes one of my favourite colours - purple! I used a green at the bottom for a mix that is sometimes seen in Asian clothing, so I hope you enjoy this look!

After I primed the eye with UDPP & NYX JEP in Milk, I applied a matte lilac-purple (from the Sedona Lace palette) to the whole eyelid, followed by a more reddish purple (with slight shimmer) in the crease. A matte light pink shade was added to the brow bone and blended down into the reddish-purple in the crease.
I added a bit of a green shadow with a liner brush to the bottom lashline followed by UD Covet eye liner and Stagedive glitter liner on top.
For the topliner I used MAC fluidline in Blacktrack and also on the lower waterline.
Both Khuraira and MAC concealers were applied under the eyes and Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet mascara to the lashes.

For the rest of the face I used a sample of the new YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat in BD50 and set it with UD Razorsharp powder.
I then used UD Baked Bronzer in Toasted on the cheeks and MAC Quick Sizzle (matte fuschia) first on the lips:
I then used a more nude colour on the lips (UD Naked lipliner) for those afraid of bright colours!:
And finally added a bit of gloss (UD Stardust lipgloss in Andromeda) for a nude shine:

I recently attended an event held by Nice Nails Baby, a nail and beauty salon in Kings Cross specialising in nail treatments.
I attended the event with the lovely Numera of Hommes De Femmes and as we waited to get our nails done we sipped on much needed refreshing mocktails and yummy cupcakes.
I chose a colour to match my clothes (Mermaid's Tears by OPI) whilst Numera got OPI Hot & Spicy and Essie Coral Reef on her ring fingers; the 3D art being offered was something different and right up my alley- they had bows! I definitely have a thing for bows, be it on my shoes or on my head, I love them and the one I chose was blingy so I was ecstatic:
Numera got a bow on one ring finger and mini licorice allsorts on the other - über cute!
We chatted with the founder of Nice Nails Baby Michelle who was lovely and friendly; I could see why she had customers returning with her bubbly personality and would definitely love to have my nails done by the NNB nail technicians.
If you'd like a manicure with a twist I'd definitely recommend NNB who are based in Victoria and Kings Cross!
