FF: Smokey Grey Alice Through The Looking Glass Make Up Look

Friday, 20 May 2016

This weeks look is using the new Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass palette (to which I have the original that you can spot in this UD post here). I asked you guys what colours you'd like me to use for a look and decided to pick Dream On as I haven't done a greyish look in a while.

FF: Smokey Navy Arabic Make Up Look

Friday, 6 May 2016

Hey guys!

This week I thought I'd get down to doing a smokey look as it's been a while..  and thought I'd jazz it up by using my newest lenses (Solotica Hidrocor Avela) and an Arabic style eyeliner.
I uploaded a phone camera pic on Instagram (below) after a friend forced me to (I tend to keep looks under wraps until Friday's) but the response was lovely so I'm glad I did post it raw from my phone!

FFF: Motives Brown-Copper Smokey Makeup Look - Pictorial!

Friday, 10 January 2014

[picture heavy post!]

Hello my lovelies! Hope you all had lovely holidays and had a nice break.

Mine was busy (of course) with makeup bookings for weddings, so unfortunately I haven't had time to review products or write full blog posts but I have gotten round to doing a makeup look for this week so I hope you enjoy!

Products used:
Eyes:
> UDPP - Eden
> NYX JEP - Black Bean
> Motives Pressed Eyeshadows in Cappuccino, Chocolight, Onyx and Whipped Cream
> Motives Photo Finish Powder in Neutral Medium

> Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Genius
> MAC pigment in Copper Sparkle
> UD 24/7 Shadow Pencil - Demolition
> Inglot AMC eyeliner gel - 77 (black)
> Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara
> Motives
Color Perfection Quad in Medium
> Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade - Ebony
> Eylure Girls Aloud lashes - Kimberley
Face:
> Motives Color Perfection Quad in Medium
> Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit - Fawn, Java, Havana for contour, Banana and Sand for highlight
> Motives blush in So Peachy
Lips: > Motives Lip Pencil in Naked
> Motives Rich Formula Lipsticks in Natural and Red Coral
> Motives for La La Mineral Lipstick in Naughty

I started by filling in the brows with the my new favourite brow product: Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Ebony.
I then primed the eye with Eden PP and patting Whipped Cream eyeshadow to the brow bone with a flat brush.
With a fluffy blending brush, I then applied Cappuccino lightly to the crease followed by Neutral Medium Photo Finish powder above this, blending to the brow bone highlight.
NYX JEP in Black Bean was then applied to the eyelid only, then gently patted with a flat brush to blend.
Using the same flat brush, Chocolight was patted over this and blended upwards into Cappuccino in the crease.
I alternated between Cappuccino, Neutral Medium powder and Chocolight, taking the blending higher until I was happy:
I then added MAC Copper Sparkle with my finger tip to the middle of the eye using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Genius.
I went back with the flat brush and added more Chocolight to either side of the pigment patting to blend slightly but not too much.
I then outlined the top liner with an angled brush and Inglot Gel liner creating an extended wing at the outer corner of the eye (not forgetting the inner top eye).
I followed this wing from the bottom outer corner leaving a gap in between.

UD 24/7 eye pencil in Demolition was used to line the bottom waterline whilst a pointy brush was used to smoke out the bottom lash line winged liner with more Chocolight eyeshadow. You can add Onyx eyeshadow to the crease with a fluffy brush and Whipped Cream eyeshadow to the inner corner too to highlight if desired).
The gap between the top and bottom double winged liner was then filled with another angled liner brush and Anastasia Beauty Genius with MAC Copper Sparkle.
The under eye was concealed and mascara to coat top and bottom lashes.
Finally Eylure Kimberley lashes were applied to finish off the eye makeup:
I created a collage with the main steps so that it's easier to follow too:
For the rest of the face, I used the Motives Color Perfection Quad in Medium and contoured and highlighted following the Dress Your Face contouring guide using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit; I used Fawn, Java, Havana for contouring, graduating from light to dark, then Banana and Sand for highlighting.
Motives blush in So Peachy was used on the apples of the cheeks followed by the lip pencil in Naked with Rich Formula lipstick in Natural for the first lip combination:
I then used Motives Rich Formula lipstick in Red Coral:
Finally, I thought I'd up the drama with a dark lip too, using Motives for La La Mineral Lipstick in Naughty:
I realise now that the last couple looks have been with a smokey base; this was unintentional but I clearly seem to be loving smokey eyes at the mo so I hope you don't mind!

Would you wear this makeup look? Which lip colour do you prefer with the eye makeup?

FFF: MAC Nocturnals Black & Gold Pigment Set Makeup Look

Friday, 27 December 2013

This weeks FFF features a look using the MAC Nocturnals Black & Gold pigment set and a few Motives products.

I've recently bought a Ring Light attachment for my Sony Alpha 55 SLR camera so I thought I'd test it out with this look.. please bear with me as I'm playing with the settings to get the right colours/detail; unfortunately this batch of makeup looks' photos are grainier than usual as I had to use a higher ISO setting in the dark lighting condition I had despite using the ring light. If anyone wants to give me some help/tips on how to use the Ring Light in unnatural light (as my makeup looks are usually done at night), then please feel free to email me!

FFF: Smokey Green makeup look, YT tutorial + 3 contour techniques too!

Saturday, 16 March 2013

Hello my lovely Frooti's and Frootettes!

I've finally managed to follow up with another video tutorial after my last debut in November-December (shocking, I know!). Not only that but I included 3 ways to contour, but did them all in one go for extra emphasis in this look.

I posted this look a couple weeks back on Instagram from my phone (I couldn't wait, obviously), so I've finally managed to edit the video and write up a blog post to go with it; go me!

Hope you enjoy this tutorial, thanks for the feedback from the last video, I've taken on board the comments and tried to make it better.

Products used:
Eyes:
> UDPP
> Naked 2 palette - Blackout, Tease, Foxy
> Vice palette - Junkie
> UD Perversion & Junkie 24/7 eye pencils
> NYC black liquid liner
> Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet mascara
> Khuraira ACC in Light
> ELF black cream eyeliner
Face:
> UD 24/7 concealer pencil in ATF
> UD Naked Skin in 7.0
> Illamasqua Blush Duo - Lover & Hussy (Lover only used)
> Sleek Contour Kit in Medium (matte brown shade & highlight only)
Lips:
> UD Naked lip liner
> Illamasqua Immodest lipstick

After priming the eye with UDPP, I added Blackout (Naked 2) to the whole lid with the brush included in the UD Vice palette (flat shadow brush), extending it slightly beyond the outer corner of the eye. Using the fluffier crease brush on the other side of the brush, I blended back and forth to soften the harsh lines.
Foxy was added to the brow bone with a blending brush and blended slightly down. I then added Tease with a Sigma E45 tapered blending brush to the crease and blended between Blackout and Foxy.
I then added Blackout with a shorter buffing brush by Crownbrush to the bottom lash line and lined the inner eye with UD Perversion eye pencil. You can add more black to the lid if you've blended too much at this point. Add Junkie eyeshadow to the lids only with a flat eye shadow brush, then add Junkie eye pencil to the lower lashline too.
Clean up under the eye with a makeup wipe, then add NYC black liquid liner to the top lash line. Curl the lashes and add Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara.
Conceal under the eyes with Khuraira ACC in Light, then blend upwards cleaning up the eyeshadow line with the Real Techniques Pointed Foundation brush.
Fill in the brows with an angled brush and ELF cream eyeliner in black.
For the rest of the face I then concealed with the UD ATF 24/7 concealer stick where needed, and used 3 different contour methods:
1) Add foundation 3-4 shades darker to the hollows of the cheeks. I used Graftobian HD Creme foundation in Midnight Marigold for my contours with the Real Techniques Pointed Foundation brush.
I then added Naked Skin foundation to the face with the UD Optical Blurring brush, but stippling/patting only around the contour area.
2) I then contoured lightly with the Real Techniques Contour brush and with Sleek's Face Form in Medium, using only the matte shade in the hollows of my cheeks again.
3) Another contour method which I have now adopted into my daily routine is simply using the Illamasqua Blush Up brush (review here). I stippled on the matte colour in the Face Form to the area needed and blended upwards with the brush and also with the RT Contour brush to blend even more.

I then added Illamasqua Lover blush to my cheeks with the UD blush brush and highlighted the top of my cheeks with the Face Form highlighter.
Finally I lined and filled the lips with UD Naked lip liner and added Illamasqua Immodest on top.
The YouTube video can be found here and I've added it below too; let me know your thoughts/recommendations as ever, I'm still new to the whole video thing and get mildly stressed out by the whole editing process! I'd love to make them more frequently but to be honest I find blogging easier.

If you do recreate this look, I'd love to see it so please feel free to leave a comment below with your link or you can tweet me =)

FFF: Blue Smokey look

Friday, 30 November 2012

Hey guys!
I know it's been a while but I've finally had some time to sit down and do a makeup tutorial before I go on holiday on the 8th of December; and not only that I filmed it too *gasp*
I thought I'd try it out but in all honesty it seems sooo long to: get the stuff together in one place, get decent lighting, film it properly (and talk coherently), edit it, then save it, then upload it to YouTube... Hats off to you YouTube tutorial bloggers, I seriously don't know how you do it!

Anyway, I chose to do this look as the Urban Decay Vice Palette was recently released and a few people were asking me how I'd use the bright blue colour (Chaos). So I thought I'd do a blue smokey look with this colour and see how it goes.. hope you like!

Products used:
Eyes:
> UDPP
> NYX JEP in Milk
> UD Vice Palette: Chaos, Laced, Provocateur
> UD Naked Palette: Naked
> UD single eyeshadow: Goddess
> NYC black liquid liner
> UD 24/7 eyeliner pencils in Perversion & LSD
> UD Heavy Metal glitter liner in Spandex
> MAC Splashproof mascara
> Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet mascara
> Khuraira ACC in Light
Face:
> UD Surreal Skin Cream to Powder foundation - Supernova
> UD Razorsharp powder
> UD Toasted Bronzer
> Kiko Warm Tangerine Glow blush palette
> Elf cream liner in black (eyebrows)
Lips:
> Sabaya lip pencil in 08 (pink) [from Dubai]
> MAC lipstick in Watch Me Simmer

After priming the eye with UDPP & NYX JEP in Milk I applied Chaos to the eyelid, followed by Goddess in the outer corner/crease, blending upwards slightly and into the inner corner of the eye. Naked was used just slightly above this, followed by Laced on the inner corner, but above Chaos. I used Provocateur on the brow bone, blending down into Naked and also used on the inner corner of the eye.
UD 24/7 Perversion eye pencil was used to line the inner eye, whilst NYC liquid liner was used for the top liner. LSD was used on the lower lashline too, connecting with the black liquid liner. To finish off the eye I used MAC Splashproof mascara and Daniel Sandler mascara for more dramatic lashes, then UD Heavy Metal eyeliner in Spandex underneath the liquid liner flick on the outer corner.
I filled in the brows with Elf cream liner in black (lightly!) and concealed under the eyes to finish:
I used UD Cream to Powder foundation in Supernova, then the Razorsharp powder and Toasted bronzer in the hollows of the cheeks; I then used a warm coral/tangerine colour on the cheeks and a highlighter from the Kiko Warm Tangerine glow palette. On the lips I used Sabaya lip pencil in 08 and MAC Watch Me Simmer lipstick:
And there you have it!

I've also done a video tutorial on this makeup look (eek!!), it's my first video so there's a lot of umm-ing and ahh-ing and I'm totally not used to being and seeing myself on camera so I don't know if it's good enough! The lighting is awful coz it's just grey these days and there's barely any time to do tutorials in daylight hours; I did try to make it as short as possible too, hope you like it and find it easy to follow anyway!

What's your favourite colour from the Vice palette? Would you wear this look?

Silver-Grey look

Friday, 22 October 2010

This look was inspired by the chick in the Roll Deep video for "Green Light": (Advanced warning, this video is very hot!) click here for the video. The only pics I could find off Google were these:

I tailored the look to my own taste; not so dark/black, I used more grey than black =)

Here's the products I used for this look:

> UDPP
> MO eyeshadow in "white pearl" & "silver grey"
> UD Alice in Wonderland palette- "vorpal" ("S&M")
> UD BOS II - "gunmetal" & "perversion"
> Barry M white eyeliner "30"
> UD eyeliner - "zero"
> Sleek ink pot
> eyelash curlers
> Dior Show mascara
> MAC select moisture cover NC35
> Illamasqua powder blush in "hussy"
> Sleek pout polish in "pink cadillac"

I started by applying Barry M white eyeliner to the inner corner of the eyes (after primer), so that the white bit would stay bright and pop, even after adding the darker colours. I put the MO White Pearl on top of this (the inner corner), followed by MO silver grey on the middle of the eyelid. I then added UD Vorpal (or S&M) on top of the Models Own silver, as it was too bright and Vorpal toned it down. I then added UD Gunmetal to the outer corner of the eye and a little bit of UD Perversion to darken it further. The outer corner was winged using the MO blending brush, and the made into a more punctuated "wing" by using a cotton bud soaked in makeup remover to shape it.
UD Zero was used as top liner, whilst the bottom lash line was shaded using the remainder of what was left on the MO blending brush. After MAC concealer was used under the eye (and mixed a little with face moisturiser cos I'm still ill!), I added mascara to top and bottom lashes.

For the rest of the face I used Illamasqua blush on the apples of the cheeks to give a bit of colour compared to the cold/grey eyes. For the lips I decided to use pink (Sleek Pink Cadillac) as I personally like pink & grey together!
