Hello my lovelies!

Last month I posted a picture on my Instagram page of the new Illamasqua Matte Lip Liquid from the Summer 2014 "Matte Effect" collection and I've had a play around with it and absolutely love it!

 
I have to say I was a bit worried at first about the shade Forbidden as it seemed very cool toned for my dark/pigmented lips; but after trying Luster from the previous Illamasqua Glamore collection (blog post here), I've been more drawn to these cooler toned shades as I've been wearing them by blending the coolness away with my fingertips, which helps make the product look less pastel-like on my pigmented lips, as you can see in the swatch below.

Colour & Pigmentation: "Forbidden" is described as a "sensual pink" which is most definitely a cool toned pink. There's no doubt the Matte Lip Liquid is highly concentrated and pigmented.. a little goes a long way, particularly when I'm using it blended with my finger.
Texture: The texture of this product is fairly thick, which means less is more. On application the Matte Lip Liquid feels creamy, but once the product sets, there can be a slight dry feel to it. I always use lip balm and tissue off excess before wearing matte lip products to eliminate any discomfort.
Packaging: I like the fact that the Matte Lip Liquid has a brush applicator, however I'm more of a fan of squeezy tubes for hygiene/kit purposes, or for a product like this, I'd prefer a more precise applicator
Longevity: This product is actually probably the most long wearing lip colour I own.. which is saying something as I have a tonne of lip products! The fact that it is matte definitely helps with longevity, but I've eaten fairly oily foods with this product on the lips and it still manages to keep its colour on the lips once I'm done eating!
Scent: There's a faint vanilla/sweet smell to the product that I have to say I love too.
Price: At £18.50, this lip product is more on the pricey side, however if you're a fan of long wearing products like I am, it's worth investing in, not to mention the fact I wear the product thinly, so use much less than a usual lipgloss etc.

FrootiFactor: I have to say this product pleasantly surprised me as it is a lovely shade of pink, smells sweet and barely requires touch ups even after eating (which is handy with a baby now, as I rarely have time to check my makeup!)
I'd give this product a 4.5 out of 5, purely because I'd prefer a different applicator; I do love this product though and would love to see more shades as with the satin lipsticks, so I hope Illamasqua continue making more amazing products!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick - Obsessed

Hi FrootiBeauty readers, I'm Claudia and I write the blog Beauty and the Chic and I'm so excited to be guest posting for Safiyah today as I love her blog so much, I'm so addicted to copying her make-up looks, they are incredible. 

As a fellow Urban Decay lover, I decided to review one of their Revolution Lipsticks for you in the shade Obsessed. First off I have to comment on the packaging, the lipsticks are encased in the beautiful shiny gun metal grey with Urban Decay engraved on the side and UD on the top of the lid. They have to be one of the prettiest packagings out there. 

Obsessed is a baby pink shade which usually, I steer clear of as I thought it didn't suit my complexion however I feel this one does and it's become one of my favourite shades now. When I swatched this on my wrist, I loved how it felt moisturising and was very glad to find that it's lovely once applied to the lips too. I like to use mine after applying a lipbalm to make sure it doesn't sit in any dry patches and I found it was fine. I like to build this colour up so it's nice and bright and bold and I love the finished look. In the picture it gives off a very glossy look because of the balm underneath however, without a balm they do have a sheen to the finish and I really like this. I also found it didn't apply patchy at all, so top marks! Wear time is extremely good for me, it lasted about 3 hours and it didn't transfer easily which is always a plus as most of the lipsticks I own do transfer easily and it can be annoying. 

Now my next statement is very bold, I think these lipsticks are incredible and they have 100% taken over my first place choice of MAC lipsticks, don't get me wrong I still love them too but I have the over-powering need of wanting every shade of the Urban Decay line now and I prefer the packaging of these too, everything about these lipsticks I love.

Review: Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks & liners

Hey guys, as you may well know, I'm a huge Urban Decay fan and today I'll be reviewing something I've been uber excited about for a long while: the new Urban Decay lipsticks.

The new lipsticks have been redesigned and reformulated and repackaged.. basically a whole new lipstick, but there are some familiar sounding shades like Revolution, Rush and Jilted.

I was sent two lipstick shades: Anarchy (bright fuschia) and Turn On (rosy pink) and their corresponding 24/7 lip pencils (also relaunched).

24/7 lip pencils

Colour & Pigmentation: As with all the 24/7 range, the pigmentation is gorgeous in both lip pencils. Turn On is a rosy pink shade and Anarchy is a gorgeous bright fuschia with strong blue tones.
Texture: Both lip pencils were creamy enough to go on smoothly but not with too much slip that the pencil would bleed. I found Turn On to be drier than Anarchy when worn alone.
Longevity: When worn alone, these lip pencils can last ages, literally 24/7!
Scent: No particular scent.
Price: At £12 they remain at the same price when many of the other Urban Decay products have gone up in price; I'd definitely pick up a fair few shades before they do inevitably get popular and go up in price!

FrootiFactor: As a fan of all products "24/7" I would give these pencils a 4.5-5 out of 5:

Revolution lipsticks

Colour & Pigmentation: The colours are as described above for the corresponding lipsticks, however I found Turn On lip pencil to be duller than the corresponding lipstick. Pigmentation is insane.. absolutely packed with colour in both of these shades.
Texture: I found the texture to be utterly creamy and buttery even, like the YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks, but with more pigmentation. Amazing.
Longevity: As these are fairly creamy lipsticks, I'd expect them to wear away pretty fast, however I ate, and wore my Turn On lipstick (with liner underneath) comfortably for around 4-5 hours before I felt it wear away.
Scent: No particular scent
Price: At £15.50 it's a bit more than a MAC lipstick, but less than its quality equivalent YSL Rouge Volupte which is one of my other favourite lipsticks.. And the packaging is sleek and so me (purple) so for £15.50 it is totally justified in my opinion.

FrootiFactor: I love this lippy so much, I give it a 5!

All in all, I'm impressed just as I knew I would be, and can't wait to buy more pencils and lipsticks in the range.. My bank balance will hate me but my lips won't!

FFF: Green-Turquoise makeup look

Hi my lovelies, this weeks FFF is a green and turquoise look using the Urban Decay NYC Book of Shadows (number 3) as I haven't used it in a while and thought I'd make use of it again! 

Products used

Eyes:

> UDPP

> NYX JEP in Milk

> Urban Decay NYC Book of Shadows: Maui Wowie, Kush, Loaded

> La Femme eyeshadow: Irid White

> Sleek Au Naturel palette - Bark & Noir

> MAC fluidline in Blacktrack

> UD 24/7 eye pencil in Electric

> Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet mascara

> Khuraira ACC in Light

> MAC Studio Finish concealer - NC35

Face:

> UD Naked Skin foundation 6.0

> UD Razorsharp powder

> UD Baked Bronzer in Toasted

Lips:

> UD Super Saturated Lip Color (SSLC) in Crush

After priming the eye with UDPP & NYX JEP in Milk I applied Maui Wowie (glittery golden-green) to the inner corner, followed by Kush (green) to the rest of the eyelid. Loaded (dark green) was used on the outer corner and crease, blending inwards slightly at the crease. La Femme Irid White was used on the brow bone and blended down into Loaded.

After cleaning up the outer corner with a cotton wool bud, MAC Fluidline was used for the top liner and inner eye followed by UD Electric liner on the lower lashline.

Sleek Bark & Noir eyeshadows were used to fill the brows and after concealing under the eyes Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet mascara was worked into the lashes:

For the rest of the face I used the new UD Naked Skin sample I received at a counter in shade 6.0 and set it with the UD Razorsharp powder. I then added colour to the cheeks and face with UD Baked Bronzer in Toasted and used a bright pink on the lips (UD Crush SSLC):

Belated FFF: Green Smokey makeup look

Apologies for the delay of FFF, it now is a FFS haha!

This weeks FFF was for a makeup company interview and inspired by the scarf I was wearing for it.. this was the mock up of what I'd wear so took a couple variations of the look! I ended up going with a pink-red lip coz I liked both, but let me know what you think..

After priming the eye with UDPP & NYX JEP in Milk I applied MAC Winterscape to the inner corners of the eyes and Too Faced Lucky Charms to the middle of the eyelid. The green side from MAC She Who Dares eyeshadow was used in the crease and outer corner of the eyes, buffing it upwards slightly, followed by Bamboo (Sleek Au Naturel palette) on the brow bone, blending down into She Who Dares. I also applied a bit of Noir to the outer corner to intensify the smokiness.

UD 24/7 eye pencil was added to the lower lash line followed by Lucky Charms using a liner brush; the inner eye was then lined by UD Zero pencil and topliner done with MAC fluidline in Blacktrack. 

I used Ardell 110 demi black lashes and filled the top liner with more MAC fluidline; then filled in the brows with Sleek's Bark & Noir from the Au Naturel palette and concealed under the eyes to finish:

For the rest of the face I used Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation in 55 and MAC Wonderwoman in Mighty Aphrodite on the cheeks; for the lips I first used MAC Such Flare! lipstick:

I also tried the look with MAC Quick Sizzle lipstick:

I tried a different look on the other eye with the green "eyelid" colour in the Wet N Wild palette, but I didn't like it as much, so didn't feel it was worth taking pics of or doing!

I did do a neutral smokey look after, with the champagne & golden colours "eyelid" & "crease" in the Wet N Wild palette, leaving the green bottom liner:

However I didn't think it was as "wow" as the green smokey look, especially when in full context with the scarf:

Which look do you prefer or think goes better with the scarf?

I did end up going for a pink-red mix on the lips and green smokey look but I'd love to see which look you prefer!
