FFF: MAC Nocturnals Black & Gold Pigment Set Makeup Look

Friday 27 December 2013

This weeks FFF features a look using the MAC Nocturnals Black & Gold pigment set and a few Motives products.

I've recently bought a Ring Light attachment for my Sony Alpha 55 SLR camera so I thought I'd test it out with this look.. please bear with me as I'm playing with the settings to get the right colours/detail; unfortunately this batch of makeup looks' photos are grainier than usual as I had to use a higher ISO setting in the dark lighting condition I had despite using the ring light. If anyone wants to give me some help/tips on how to use the Ring Light in unnatural light (as my makeup looks are usually done at night), then please feel free to email me!

Products used:
Eyes:
> UDPP - Eden

> NYX JEP - Black Bean
> MAC Nocturnals Pigments & Glitter Set - Black & Gold - Naked, Museum Bronze, Gold

> Motives Pressed Eyeshadows in Onyx & Cappuccino
> Motives Glitter Adhesive
> UD Naked Basics - Naked2, Foxy
> UD 24/7 eye pencil in El Dorado & Perversion
> Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara
> Urban Decay 24/7 concealer in ATF
> Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade - Ebony
> Ardell Professional 110 lashes
Face:
> Motives Color Perfection Quad in Medium
> Motives Sculpt & Shape Duo
> Motives Photo Finish Powder in Neutral Medium & Mocha for bronzer
> Motives blush in Naughty
Lips:
> Motives lip liner in Naked
> Motives Rich Formula lipstick in Naked

I started by applying UDPP in Eden lightly over the entire eye space and NYX JEP in Black Bean only on the eyelid, spreading evenly.
I then applied MAC Naked pigment to the brow bone and inner corner of the eye followed by Motives Cappuccino to the crease blending upwards and adding UD Naked2/Foxy above this. Using a flat brush, I applied Motives Onyx (matte black) eyeshadow to the lid on top of BlackBean and blended it into Cappuccino in the crease.
I then went with a liner brush using MAC Museum Bronze pigment to the bottom lashline from the middle and Onyx shadow towards the end of the bottom eye.
UD 24/7 eye pencil in El Dorado was used for the inner corner and using another liner brush, I applied a bit of MAC Gold glitter to the bottom inner corner on top with Motives Glitter Adhesive.
The inner eye was lined with UD 24/7 eye pencil in Perversion; if required, you can line the top of the lid too, but as the black shadow Onyx is quite dark, I didn't need to.
I cleaned up from the outer corner to the end of the brow bone and gently buffed out any harsh lines.
I concealed under the eyes with UD 24/7 pencil in ATF and applied Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet mascara to the top and bottom lashes followed by Ardell 110 lashes. I then filled the brows with the new Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Ebony, using light strokes for a softer finish:
For the rest of the face I used the Motives Color Perfection Quad in medium and set it with the Photo Finish powder in Neutral Medium. I used the Sculpt & Shape Duo to sculpt the cheeks and used the Photo Finish powder in Mocha as an in between Bronzer colour. Naughty blush was used on the apple of the cheeks lightly.

For the lips I used the Motives Naked lip liner and corresponding Rich Formula lipstick in Naked too:
Unfortunately I didn't get to take a lot of pictures or play around with the camera for too long, but I do apologise about the graininess and lack of clearness in these pictures as I've not yet mastered how to work the ring light in dark settings yet!

If you have any tips that could help, it'd be much appreciated if you could email me (contact@frootibeauty.co.uk).

I hope you enjoyed this look otherwise, do let me know what you think or if you try it!
