FF: 2018 Pantone Colour of the year - Ultraviolet

So as you guys should know by now, purple (and pink) are my favourite colours and with Ultraviolet being the Pantone colour of the year I knew I wanted to start the year off with a bang, so I created this makeup look using the Urban Decay Electric Palette as it was best fitting (see previous posts with this palette here!)

Sunday Swatches: L'Oreal Infallible Matte Max Lip Pens

Following the last Sunday Swatches post (here), I thought I'd show you the Matte Max Lip Pens/Pencils; they actually look like they're eyeshadows as the packaging and sponge applicator tip with powdery product looks very eyeshadow-esque.

I actually quite like the texture and feel of these pens; probably the most comfortable feeling matte lip product I've tried!

Sunday Swatches: L'Oreal Infallible Sculpt Collection Review + Mario Dedivanovic Tips!

Thanks to L'Oreal, I had the amazing opportunity to attend their "Sculpt School" on Friday with none other than Mario Dedivanovic.

If you don't know who he is, he's only the guy who brought to our attention the concept of "contouring" through Kim K (see pic below) and since then the craze has spun out of control (a quick scroll through IG makeup pages will give you an idea!)

I knew I had to attend the class as soon as I received the invite and was totally enthralled along with other bloggers/youtubers/press watching Mario work his magic on the model below.

Mario used the new L'Oreal Infallible Sculpt Range which aims to make "sculpting"/contouring easier for everyone and addresses sculpting every part of the face including base/complexion, eyes and eyebrows, cheeks and even lips (all products except the sculpting brush below).

L'oreal Nude Magique BB Cream Review

After posting a picture of this BB cream on instagram (username: frootibeauty, follow me!), I was instantly prompted to review the product.

As you may or may not know, BB (blemish balm) creams have been exploding all over the market of late due to the hype brought over from Korea.
Unfortunately it's now hard to keep track of what a "real" BB cream is, but the general consensus is that it is similar to a tinted moisturiser (but can also be a primer) with sunblock and anti-inflammatory/anti-aging ingredients.

A lot of BB creams now on the market don't even have SPF which is one of the main selling points of BB creams, so I'd stay away from them!

Admittedly, this BB cream was bought despite its low SPF (12) because I fall for gimmicky things. This products' "gimmick" is that it uses smart pigments that are released when blended- changing colour to match your skin tone:

1. L'oreal Nude Magique freshly applied (with lipstick stain from a swatch underneath)

2. Slightly blended

3. Fully blended in

Packaging: I like the fact it has a nozzle otherwise you'd get way too much product out due to the texture of the cream.

Colour: White with "smart pigment capsules". Comes in two shades: Fair & Medium skin tone (I bought Medium). Leans towards a more peachy-tone than yellow or orange tone.
Texture: Very fluid based/runny, but feels a lot like a scrub with microgranules when applying. Blends to a smooth dewy finish.
Scent: No real scent

Coverage: This BB cream gives a very light coverage, enough to cover my freckles but not enough to hide the swatch stain properly (see pictures above). I use it by itself daily but you can build up coverage by wearing your regular foundation over it.
Price: For £9.99 it's neither expensive nor cheap but just the right price for an everyday BB cream in my opinion!

FrootiFactor: I'd give this BB Cream a 4 as I'd prefer it to be more yellow toned and also have a higher SPF. Other than that, it gives enough coverage for day to day wear and hydrates for up to 24 hours, so should be good for combination/dry skin.

Winning Look

Excuse the pun title, couldn't resist lol!

For this look I used:
> Bare Minerals Get Started Kit
> UD PP
> NYX "lagoon sparkle" single eyeshadow &
> NYX "purple pearl" Ultimate Pearl eyeshadow
> NYX "surreal"  Glitter Cream Palette (far left purple-blue)
> UD "zero" Ink For Eyes
> Eyelash curlers
> L'oreal Telescopic mascara in black
> NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick in "sparkling orchid"

To start, I used the Bare Minerals kit:

First I applied the "medium beige" foundation (medium looked too light, you get two in the kit), then I used the All Over Face Colour in "warmth", then applied the concealer "summer bisque" under my eyes (although I think it's too white/light for my colour), followed by the "mineral veil" all over the face. All products are instructed to be applied by three steps: Swirl (the brush), Tap, then Buff on the face. I did as instructed, with the included brushes and actually loved the effect on my skin, as I woke up today with unusually blotchy skin =(
I didn't use the included sample of Bare Minerals face primer this time round, thought I'd save it for when I get a better camera!

For the eyes, after using UDPP I added NYX Lagoon Sparkle to the inner corners of the eyes, followed by Purple Pearl to the middle and outer corners. I then added the NYX purple-blue glitter cream to the outer corners of the eyes (although it's sadly not as visible as it was in real life!). This glitter cream has the glitter on top, whilst the cream is underneath, which was different to work with, but managable!

I used my recently purchased Urban Decay Ink for Eyes in Zero, which went on so smooth, it's the best to apply with out of all of the liners I now own. Colour-wise, it's not as dark as I'd like. I then tried out the L'oreal Telescopic mascara, which I have to say I'm sadly disappointed with. It made my eyelashes look all sparse despite curling them beforehand, and brushing out with a mascara wand. I think the product was too wet than what I'm used to, which spoiled it unfortunately.

Finally I used NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick in Sparkling Orchid, which I love; the colour is beautiful, the camera does it no justice! It was very very moisturising, the most moisturising lipstick I've tried to date.

I personally think my skin looks airbrushed with this Bare Minerals, and a little bit tanned, but maybe it's the camera quality that's making it tanned.. I'll defo be trying with a better one soon! Even though I don't wear foundation and tend not to be a fan, I'll be saving this for special occasions/when I have more time!

As for NYX products, I'm pleasantly surprised that the products are lovely to use, I still have the Glitter Liner in "Disco Queen" to use as well as the Powder Blush in "Cinnamon" and the rest of the Glitter Creams =D
