Review: Make Believe Sunbeam Bronzer and giveaway!

Sunday, 21 October 2012

Hi my lovelies!

This weeks TFWOC review is the last of the Make Believe products - the Sunbeam Bronzer.
This bronzer is matte and a deep peachy-brown colour as opposed to orange-brown or red-brown bronzers. It comes with its own kabuki brush which is surprisingly soft and decent quality compared to other products that include brushes (usually they are much cheaper quality!).
swatched on my wrist

Packaging: I love the packaging of both the Sunbeam Bronzer and the Tinted Moisturiser as black and gold give a classic rich-like feel.
Finish: Matte.
Texture: Pressed powder.
Application: Can use the Kabuki brush provided, or face/blush brushes.
Smell: No particular scent.
Who this would be perfect for: I think this product would be better suited to cooler/peachy skin tones rather than more darker ethnic/yellow tones, but again, like the tinted moisturiser, the peachyness isn't too obvious once blended in on the face. It doesn't give a "dirty" look to the skin and I quite like that it has a useful brush included, ideal to carry around if you just wanted to touch up on bronzer. Having said that, the packaging is quite chunky to carry around so you'd have to have a big makeup bag!

It does give a more healthier look to my complexion (NC35-40) without it looking obvious. Very fair skins can use this for contouring. I'd say matte powder bronzers are better for normal/combination to oily skin types as they don't make the skin look shiny but give subtle colour.

FrootiFactor: I'd give this product a 4 out of 5 as it does what it says on the tin but you get the added bonus of a decent quality kabuki brush and a mirror to travel with, so I give it a 4:

The Sunbeam Bronzer is available from the Make Believe website here for £15.

GIVEAWAY:

If you would like to win both this Sunbeam Bronzer and the Glow Tinted Moisturiser all you have to do is the following:

Mont Bleu Review and competition!

Sunday, 18 March 2012

Hello my lovelies! It's been a busy and exciting time for me the last couple weeks and there's still more to come, so I look forward to sharing all of that with you over the coming days/weeks. I've reached a milestone on my twitter page last week (1000 followers) so I thought I'd have a small giveaway, sponsored by Mont Bleu a Czech brand specialising in crystal glass nail files.

They kindly approached me to review their products and offer my readers a giveaway of a crystallised nail file too!

I was sent a crystallised nail file and compact mirror, both of which were cleverly picked for a lover of purple:
For those of you who don't know, I'm a lover of all things sparkly, a typical girly girl, so when I first received these products my eyes approved of the sparkle-factor.
As you can see, the products are very glitzy and glamourous, and sparkle beautifully both with and without flash. I did not expect the crystals to be that clear and pretty to be honest!

Mont Bleu crystallised nail file
This is my favourite of the two items, for various reasons; it's in the girly colours I love (pink & purple), it sparkles beautifully, has an ombre effect (which I'm loving on anything right now!) as well as being more pleasant to use than metal files or emery boards.
without flash
with flash - look at the sparkle!
It has a decent thickness and is not flimsy at all and it comes in a velvet pouch great for keeping the file in.
The one sent to me was the Comet color - Amethyst (€10/around £8.32), but there are so many to choose from, that you'd be spoilt for choice! Prices for the crystallised nail files start from €8/around £6.70 and you can also buy personalised ones too.

I've decided to give a new marking system in reviews too, the "frooti-factor" which I will scale from 0 to 5.
For the Mont Bleu nail file I have to say it ticks all the right boxes and would get at least a 4.5:

Mont Bleu crystallised compact
The compact sent was a heavy duty plastic mirrored finish and had cutely placed crystals on it in a similar design as the nail file (Comet design).

This one is called Purple Comet (€12/around £9.98) which came in a lovely presentable leatherette gift box; other metal and plastic compacts start from €3.99/around £3.32).
One side is magnified whilst the other is a normal/unmagnified mirror. My only qualm with this type of mirror is getting fingerprints all over the front, and that the stones would fall off.

However, I've been carrying both products in my handbag for the last week to test it and not one has fallen off yet.. Impressive seeing as my handbag goes through a lot of abuse!
So my overall rating for the mirror - (4):
I reckon these products would make great gifts for other girly girls out there like me (of all ages), as the sparkle on these products are amazing as well as the choice of other products that can be gifted.

Frooti readers have been given a 20% discount code "BLOG" to use on all products, including tweezers, makeup brushes and more so be sure to use it if you plan on buying for yourself or for others.

They do also do wholesale orders too (here), for those interested for corporate events.

Now for the competition!
Mont Bleu have offered one frootibeauty follower chosen at random to be given a crystallised nail file too, so to enter, please do the following:
  • Leave your email address in the comments box below along with "enter me" and your twitter and facebook name. You can email me if you'd prefer not to display your names openly - contact@frootibeauty.co.uk
  • Follow Mont Bleu on Twitter here
  • Like Mont Bleu on Facebook here
And there you have it! This competition ends Friday 30th March, where a winner will be chosen at random.
