Revisiting Khuraira Products

Friday, 20 May 2011

For those of you who don't know, I discovered Khuraira at the start of this year (click here for my original reviews on certain products I received) and have used the Brow Fix and Age Control Concealer (ACC) religiously everyday since then and in quite a few makeup looks! I love the fact that the concealer is creamy, dewy and very thick, which is exactly what's needed for my hideous dark circles. I've used it on a few other people aswell and they've commented that it makes you look "flawless", so I want to add all three shades of this concealer to my kit/wishlist!
Age Control Concealer - Light
 Brow Fix
The other concealer still remains pretty much unused and the dark circle primer hasn't been used as much as I thought I would cos I didn't notice much of a difference and if anything, a orange tint to my eye area! Maybe I used too much of the product, because I also noticed the same thing with a Laura Mercier orange corrector for dark circles too that I had bought.

Recently I have added the Invisible Powder and Lash Lengthening Mascara to my makeup kit to use on other people. Yesterday I did a friends makeup for an occasion and used the invisible powder on her, worrying if it'd make her look ashy (she's black). It actually set the foundation really well as she was an oily skin type and was actually invisible, so I'm impressed. Khuraira do claim that it is used by Oprah, so now I've tried it on darker skin tones, I do believe their claims. Plus I'm all for products that do what they say on the tin, so this now gets a proper thumbs up.

I haven't used the Lash Primer much, especially since I've started using the Urban Decay Lush Lash system, which has it's own lash conditioning mask, but the consistency of both are pretty similar, although the UD lash mask is less visibly white. As for the lipstick, it's one I use on my days off work, at home, cleaning, etc, (yes I'm that glam!) just a nice natural shade and keeps my lips moisturised =)

Khuraira are an American brand, but ship worldwide thankfully, otherwise I would never have discovered their wonderful products, but if you're interested in buying the concealer for instance that I use regularly, then the link will remain permanently on the right sidebar (under the Eyeko code) or you can click here to go directly to the site where they are having a sale on a couple items! I'm currently on a spending ban by the hubby though, so if anyone wants to buy me those concealers....! lol

Have you tried Khuraira or heard of them before? If not, which concealers would you recommend for dark circles??

Khuraira review

Friday, 7 January 2011

So here's the post trying the lovely Khuraira products, beware, lots of high res pics!
As a base I used the same as my Garnier post, just Urban Decay Ink for Eyes eyeliner in Zero.
First I'd like to talk about the Age Control Dark Circle Primer (ACDCP).
Here's my eye:
1: without any product under my eye (left eye):

2: with the orange ACDCP:
3: with the ACDCP blended in:
4: MAC concealer on top and Invisible Finishing Powder (IFP):
Here's the number 1 and 4 but of the right eye, and with a mix of the Khuraira Camouflage Concealer (CC) and Age Control Concealer (ACC), with IFP:

I applied one coat of the Lash Conditioning Primer (LCP):

As you can see, the white product is visible, so it's important to use mascara in a zigzag motion to coat each lash (and cover the white), unless of course white lashes is what you're looking for! The texture feels creamy and reminds me of hair conditioner, which is probably what this is intended for!

The Lash Lengthening mascara definitely lengthened my lashes, it's a nice wet texture, although too wet is not usually my favourite type of mascara texture as it tends to clump the lashes. This one doesn't clump my lashes too much, nothing a quick brush out with a mascara brush or comb would take out, so I like the fact that my lashes look longer. My lashes naturally curl up, but I'm of the thinking "the curlier the better" hence why I tend to go for curling mascara and use eyelash curlers. I'm defo thinking of using this mascara in conjunction with eyelash curlers to get double the effect!
Right eye:
Left eye:

The IFP is a great powder compared to what I'm used to as it didn't give much of a creased look under the eyes. Someone once said that if you smile too much you tend to have under eye wrinkles/creases, which unfortunately I do suffer from! In conjunction with under eye circles, it's a nightmare trying to look naturally fresh without getting creases to give you away! This powder definitely helps keep the concealer crease free so I'm happy with it =)
I used the O Naturel lipstick/lipbalm and Brow Fix in the following pictures, a very simple look only adding a bit of blush to finish the natural/simple look.

           Right Side:                                                          Left Side:
I do think my right side (with the Khuraira concealers) is less darker than the left side where I used my usual MAC select moisturecover concealer (NC35). I think this is because the texture of the MAC concealer is thin in comparison to the much thicker Khuraira concealers, which definitely give more coverage. I do have the MAC Studio Finish concealer also (in a pot, solid cream), but I found it too dry, so I think it's better for hotter weather. The Khuraira one in comparison to the Studio Finish concealer is however quite creamy, albeit thick, so I can see myself wearing this in Summer as well as Winter/ colder weather.
The Lipstick is very lightweight and moisturising, and gives a natural sheen to my lips with a tiny hint of colour, so it's something I can see myself carrying around with me in my handbag as an everyday lip product.
I used the browfix in the pictures above, it feels absolutely weightless and almost like I'm not doing anything with the brows, but I tried it this morning with my eyebrows filled in, and it seems to have kept my eyebrows in check for the day!

All in all, these Khuraira products are pretty great, the ACDCP seems to be a great solution to under eye circles for me, I've defo noticed a difference in the darkness/ shadow under my eyes in comparison to not using it..

Khuraira are mainly a USA based company, but they do deliver to the UK also, which is great cos I have a feeling the Dark Circle Primer will be making it into my everyday routine from now on along with some of the others!

Khuraira cosmetics brand

Wednesday, 5 January 2011

About 3 weeks ago I got a lovely email asking if I'd like to try some samples of a cosmetics brand called Khuraira, which I had read about on a few blogs and websites, particularly for their "dark circle primer". Of course I said yes and to my delight the products arrived today.. all full size! I was extremely excited that I took pictures straight away, so here's what I received:

Left to right: top: Camouflage Concealer in No. 2 & Invisible Finishing Powder
second line: Lash Conditioning Primer & Lash Lengthening Mascara
third line: Light Age Control Concealer & Age Control Dark Circle Primer
right side: O Naturel lipstick/ lipbalm
bottom: Brow Fix

I'll refer to each product by acronyms for this post and the review post that will follow: Camouflage Concealer = CC,
Invisible Finishing Powder = IFP,
Lash Conditioning Primer = LCP,
Lash Lengthening Mascara = LLM
Age Control Concealer = ACC (in light)
Age Control Dark Circle Primer = ACDCP
Brow Fix = BF

Unfortunately the IFP crumbled in transition so it got everywhere and keeps spilling when I open it, but nothing too big that I can't use it!

So here goes! First, is the CC in No. 2 up close:
This concealer is quite light and slightly more pink toned than yellow, but gives great coverage. Check the swatch below for the colour on my skin.

The ACC is thicker in consistency and a lot more yellow toned, I mixed the two below which blended better to my skin colour. Here's the concealer in the pot:
And swatches alone and together:

I think I prefer the ACC consistency, but we shall see when I use the products on my face in the next post!
Here's the damaged IFP:
I've been wanting a finishing powder, so hope this ones great even though it's scarily white lol!
The LCP is also white in colour and is worn underneath the mascara. I've never used such a product even though I've seen a few in the past, L'oreal comes to mind, but this sounds like a good product for me seeing as I use mascara everyday now!

Here's the Lash Lengthening Mascara, something I don't often favour when curling mascaras are in the picture!
Brow Fix is something I've been meaning to buy, either a wax or wand like this, so I'm really happy I received this and will defo make use of this from now on!
The lipstick looks like a nice light pinky tone, something quite "O-Naturel" and on the website it's under the lipbalm section. Look out for my makeup look with all these products next!

I can't wait to play with these products, thank you so much Khuraira!
The next post should be a makeup look with these products, so look out!

I also have a makeup look and a surprise "makeup" look I did on my cousin, inspired by Avatar the movie.. be prepared!!
